To so many people, the world of resale is new and it can be overwhelming and confusing if you aren't familiar with the atmosphere. Resale shops vary from church stores, charity stores, private consignment stores, thrift stores, and private resale franchises. Typically items are categorized by type and kept in the general area of the store. Most store will have a color price tag on the item, unless they are looking for offers or auction bids. The colors usually determine how long the item has been in the store. Some stores offer discount days on certain color items. You must be very patient because resale shopping takes time. Typically you should be prepared to look through racks of items weeding through things until you find the one that interest you. Now the item must be inspected. You will want to look at all of the buttons,m snaps, or other closures on clothes. You will have to look for holes and stains and any other damage there is. Most damage can be mended easily and inexpensively, making the purchase worth it. be prepared to try on tops, jackets, blazers, and even some pants right off of the rack. Many thrift stores do not have dressing rooms ad do not offer returns.
Remember that you have to be creative and have an open mind and try to think of how you could make that item work.for you.
Consignment is a different world, and I will go over the differences in my consignment survival guide coming in August
