Ebay is a great place to save money on products, however when it comes to buying computer software, please make sure you know the following:
• View seller's eBay feedback record. Be careful of new eBay sellers listing a lot of software items, the products could be illegal.
• Research realistic price on the software you're buying. If the software product you're purchasing costs $600 in stores and sold on eBay for $100, the software could be illegal.
• Don’t buy software from a sellers who list numerous auctions for the exact same piece of software.
• Don’t buy software being offered from another region of the world. A lot of software companies have regional restrictions for licensing. In addition, the software may be incompatible with your computer.
• Don’t buy software outside of auction. Especially, from new ebay sellers.
• Don’t buy software from auctions lasting one day or three days or low buy-it-now price. These sellers are usually trying to avoid copyright owner auction removal.
• Don’t buy OEM software. Most OEM software must include original computer system to be legally sold.
• Don’t buy software that is being sold as a copy. These products do NOT have legal license and cannot be used.
• Don’t buy software that doesn't include original packaging (such as retail box) and/or documentation.
• Don’t buy beta (pre-release) or NFR (“not for resale”) software. This software is meant for evaluation purposes only and is not meant to be resold or permanently used.
• Don’t buy an upgrade version unless you own a licensed full version of the software.
• Don’t buy software if the seller only accepts Cash by mail, wire transfer, or western union.
