We have all seen the street vendors in the big cities selling "Oakley" sunglasses for only $10 and we think that we are getting a great deal. However, in many things, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Oakley is one of the most imitated brands of sunglasses, and there are thousands of fakes out there. It is often very easy to spot the fake sunglasses. Here are a few things you should check, before buying online or from a 'street vendor.'
- On many of their styles, Oakley puts their name on the front nose piece between the lenses. It should only read "Oakley." Fake manufactures put the trademark registered symbol ® after the word "Oakley." If the sunglasses have this registered symbol--they are fake.
- Authentic Oakleys are manufactured in the United States, not in China, Pakistan, or any other country.
- Authentic Oakleys should come with the Oakley box, warranty card, etc. If a seller does not have these, it doesn't necessarily mean that they are fake, but you can be more at ease if the seller does have the original box, etc.
- Real Oakleys are never sold on street corners or tourist shops for any amount around $20 or less. Authentic Oakleys are definitely worth the higher prices and they will usually sell upwards of $60.
Before you buy a pair of sunglasses on Ebay, check to see if the above information has been listed by the seller. Also, it is a good idea to take a few minutes and browse Oakley's website to compare the styles. Having owned several pairs of Oakley sunglasses, I highly recommend their product as the best.
