I recently recieved an e-mail that I thought was from Ebay. I had tried to win a laptop and was unsuccessful and immediately after the ending of the item I got an e-mail saying I was being offered a "Second Chance" on the item. I was very excited because as a poor college student I can use all of the help I can get saving money. I immediately responded to the e-mail saying I definately wanted to pay the money that had been my Max Bid to purchase the laptop. I considered myself so lucky to recieve such a chance and even told my friends and co-workers about it, not knowing that the e-mail was not from Ebay and was infact from a con artist in Romania. I got the e-mail back telling me to send money via Western Union to an address in Romania and then I would receive the laptop within 5-10 business days. The man in the e-mail told me his busines partner lived in Romania but he lived in Georgia an would ship the laptop from there. I am a very christian person and tend to believe what people tell me because I like to believe that everyone is good but unfortunately they aren't and there are some people out there who want to take everything you work hard for because of the fact that they are lazy individuals who get a thrill out of stealing from innocent victims like myself. I waited for around 2 weeks and after repeatedly e-mailing the person who I thought was an Ebay user and good person and not hearing back from him I realized I had been a victim of computer fraud and immediately started e-mailing Ebay and Western Union and every kind of internet fraud company there is. Unfortunately though there was nothing anyone could do because the money had already been recieved and there was no way to return it to me. Because of this I still don't have my laptop because I can't afford one at the high price they are and because of this I am very cautious of who I trust. I DO NOT want this to happen to anyone else so if you get an e-mail saying it's from Ebay be SURE to check on your My Ebay page. Go to my messages and if it truly is from an Ebay member it will be in that folder. If it is not in that folder it is a scam and you should report the person immediately. Also never pay with Western Union. If you pay with Pay Pal or a credit card or even a check they can track the money and get it back but you can't do that with Western Union so I definately advise you not to pay with Western Union. Find another way and if they seller insists you pay with Western Union I would advise you to not buy from them. I hope that everyone in Ebay will read this guide and learn not to make a terrible mistake like I did. Please be careful and dont' trust just everyone because even though there are a lot of good people in the world, there are still some bad ones out there that you need to watch out for.
