As time passes it is easy to focus on ones self. Focusing on your career and where it takes you. I have spent the better part of 10 years living in various states across the nation working, away from family and friends. Money was my surrogate family. It is said money can not buy you happiness. I tried. Now, looking back I see what I missed. Holidays, birthdays, saying good-bye at funerals. The experiences I had were life changing and rewarding, but I sacrificed time away from the ones I love in its persuit.
Their is no substitute for family or friends. It is sad when you grow older and you can use one hand to count the number of friends you have, and half those are family. We all have our own lives to lead but in doing so we need to open up and share our experiences with those that are close to us. The sands of time can not be stopped, and there is not a rewind button on life. Do not take anything for granted.
