As I said in the review, I strongly suggest you buy this action packed game.  If you can, try to play this game online by following the directions on the main menu.  I will talk about the basics on how to win a battle.  I played this game online for a while (do not any more), and I am sure that if you follow these basic guide lines, you will have success as well.

1.  Pick the right map for you:  First of all, when you start off a battle online, you only have $10,000.  This may seem like a lot, but I can tell you that it is nothing.  What you want to do is make sure that you pick a map that you know before begining so you know where to find hidden sources of money.

2.  Secure a good source of funds:  When you start, send your first worker out to establish a small base and defense around a large money source (supplies or oil well).  At this time in the battle, you should build up a good size defense with war factory, barracks, and a supply center at your main base, with another base or two at one or two main money sources.  Your secondary bases at the money sources should have a barracs, and a supply center of the source of funds are supplies (later in the game, you might want to consider buildin a war factory there for major defense, and attacks).  After you have built a strong hold at your secondary bases, capture to oil rigs or get the supply lines going so that you have a steady amount of income coming in which will allow for you to build up your secondary bases and main base just before an attack.  If you are playing with allies, share the wealth.  Let them have one of the oil rigs or some of the supplies so that they can do the same. 

3.  Build up forces:  Now, with a steady income, you want to start to make tanks or planes depending on what army you have.  Build these forces up, not necessarily for an attack, but to spread them out and prevent any sneaky attacks and reveal a good portion of the map.  Ok, now its the time that you have been waiting for, build up a few different divisions with about 5-8 tanks in each, and 1-2 anti aircraft and infantry vehicles for each.

4.  Prepair for an attack:  After you have done this, send out a drone or a unit of less value to reveal any other units that are not in the main base and which will cause you trouble getting to the enemy's main base.  With aircaft, try to minimise the threat of these units as much as possible.  Ok, now you want to force as much confusion to the enemy as possible while he is under attack.  Reveal 2 or 3 good attack routs to your enemys main base. 

5. Attack the main base:  With thoes 2 or 3 divisions, attack the main base through different routs that you revealed earlier.  Attack different places of the enemy's base.  This is better than attacking in one place so the enemy could focus on that one spot with everything he has.  To cause even more confusion, use aircraft to weaken any defense turrets, and then clean them up with your tanks.  Also, utalize the long range launchers to carry out the same duty of the aircraft.  If you are the GLA, utalize the scud launcher (long range) to weaken the defense because there are no planes.  After this point, it is just a lot of destroying, and the enemy's final hopes.
