I would like to encourage you to write your poetry and then place the subject of the poems, in categories. This makes selection easier for the reader. Not everyone will want to read childrens poems, nor will everyone like romantic poetry. In a book form, the contents will let the reader choose from a favorite category.
100 poems is a good number to start out with to make a small, easy to manipulate book. Smaller poetry books with fewer pages than 50, are called chapbooks. These are very easy to handle and can accommodate one subject matter nicely, or a chapbook works well for a small poetry collection with illustrations.
For your romantic poems, you could choose something with hearts and flowers .
To test whether anyone would enjoy your poetry, try this. Print the poems to give, as greeting cards.
