So you get the bad news from your Doc: "Time to give up the caffeine". Maybe you are starting to have unpleasant side effects (heartburn), maybe your blood pressure is being affected, etc.
If you're like me, you won't WANT to give it up. I really, really didn't want to. But I decided my doc was probably right.
First, I did it the wrong way. Cold Turkey. From 5 cups of coffee a day to none.
BIG mistake. I had the worst headache of my life and it lasted 3 days. No fun and my kids weren't crazy about their suddenly exhausted mother either.
Next time, I realized that moderation was the only way to go.
I started cutting down, a cup at a time. Pretty soon, I was off caffeine.
I DO have a good cup of coffee now and then but only on occassion.
I should also warn you. If you're used to that cup of Java first thing in the morning, your sleep patterns may change. You may feel more tired at first. But, in time, your body should adjust and you might even notice some positive changes. For me, that included less hunger (caffeine made me hungry; for other people, it dulls their appetite)....better skin and even blood sugar levels.
In all honesty, I miss my coffee. I do. But if you have to give it up, I hope this helps.
