How to Spot the FAKE 3rd Gen. Apple iPod video Nano.

I believe a picture is worth a thousand words.

I wanted to write a guide that is SHORT, SIMPLE, and to the POINT.

Counterfeit is buying crap!

New REAL Apple iPod video Nanos have nice clean packing and do NOT come with a install CD, the software needed is a download from Apple and iTunes... The FAKE ipod nano comes with an install CD, and have a very cheap and messy packing.

                Notice...  how the FAKE nano screen is way out of alignment.

The Real Apple iPod nano has a metal feel to the touch. The FAKE nano, has a more plastic feel.

The FAKE nanos has no actual click scroll wheel...you have to press down like a button.            

The Real Apple iPod nano has a sharp and crisp screen, as the FAKE nano has a blurry screen.

The Real Apple iPod nano has product info imprinted on it,  where as the FAKE has nothing more then a very cheap... made in CHINA sticker on it....

The Real Apple iPod has a longer original USB connector slot. The FAKE has a simple USB connector slot ...like a digital camera would have.

                 There is NO HOURGLASS icon on REAL Apple iPods.

                                           

          If you see an Hourglass icon on your ipod... it is 100 percent a FAKE.

ALL Apple Product RED iPods will have the Product RED logo etched on the back.

I have written this guide as a means to help inform both BUYERS and SELLERS alike.

Unfortunately, there are a high number of sellers on EBAY who sell FAKE ipod nanos, passing them off as the real thing. These cheap copies are nothing like the real thing.

Personally, I would prefer to buy a rock with the word ...nano... written on it, rather then buy this cheaply made junk from China.

I have noticed something similar about many of these sellers. They usually have little to no feedback, or they have quite a bit of negative reviews. Sometimes these sellers will list several ipods at a time, while others will only list one after one has sold. You may also notice that a seller will quickly buy other ipods for much more then you paid for the one he was selling. What this seller has done, is sold you cheap junk, and with YOUR money... he or she went ahead and bought themselves something nice ...like a real ipod, what you had thought you were getting...

Keep in mind, even if you decided to email these deceitful sellers, and ask if the ipod they are selling is a real Apple ipod ...made by Apple... they will lie, and tell you what they think you want to hear. All they care about is the money....YOUR money!

Lastly, if you feel something is wrong with an auction... that it is way too good to be true, it probably is. Trust me, I know from first hand the long process it takes to try and regroup any of your money. It is by far not worth it. It is time consuming, and extremely frustrating. It is best to buy from a reputable EBAY seller with a plentiful and strong feedback score.

Fake ipod are being made to look more and more like the real thing. Scammers are getting more and more clever. I have seen some that nearly look like a true Apple iPod...  but are nothing more then a cheap fake.

On youtube, this guy Mike Mozart... does a really good video on fake Apple iPods (and how good they can really look...almost like the real thing, but sadly not). Apple makes some of the best products out there... and if you product "feels" cheaply made...there is a good chance that is was NOT made by Apple.
