How to Spot Fake Juicy Couture Sellers

It is unfortunate that there are people that justify selling Fake or Replica Juicy Couture velour, fleece and terry sets, dresses and T-Shirts on Ebay. I have been selling Juicy Couture on Ebay for several years and have developed a very reputable reputation accross the continents. The most asked question that I get as a seller of Juicy Couture: Is this 100% Authentic Juicy Couture? I am hoping that I can help answer that question and offer some helpful tips to buyers.

Replica Sellers:
If the item is located in China - More than likely it is a replica - Rule of thumb - Do Not Buy from China (or Asia)

If the seller shows sets in plastic / poly bags WITH A JUICY LOGO - More then likely it is a replica. I have seen and purchased authentic Juicy in bags, but they do not have any LOGO's on them. Just a white sticker whith the color, size and barcode.

Read the acutions very carefully, some sellers actually use the word Replica or mi-spelled Courture  hidden in their description to cover themselves.

How To Spot A Fake:

Up til 2006 The inside tag is color coded to each size -
X-Small Petite - Pink
Small - Orange
Medium - Beige
Large - Green
X-Large - Light Blue

ALSO THE TAGS WILL BE SEWN ON WITH THE SAME COLOR AS THE GARMENT NOT THE TAG.

HERE IS WHAT TO LOOK OUT FOR:

THE TAG SHOULD ONLY BE SEWN AT THE TOP CORNERS AND THE MADE IN AMERICA TAG SHOULD BE SEWN DIRECTLY ACCROSS THE TOP. THE TAG IS ALSO MORE SQUARED THEN RECTANGULAR

If the inside tag is cut in half - this is a way for retail stores to know that it is sale merchandise and not to exchange or return for full retail - These are most likely authentic. The zipper has certain letters on the back - YKK (The older and import Juicy does NOT have YKK. The newer does, however.) Also, the older Juicy have a squared off shape on the zipper and the newer is rounder. This was done when Zippers were comming off in the wash!

Plus, if you look carefully at the trademark symbols, you'll notice the letters TM or R will be on the inside tag and the hang tag. The older Juicy had TM (because they had only claimed the trademark and submitted it to the United States Patent and Trademark Office [USPTO] and since the USPTO has accepted the trademark claim the newer Juicy has R, which stands for Registered Trademark.

Another helpful hint would be to look at the stitching on the inside tag and what color the thread it. Alll US Juicy uses the same color thread as the garment, NOT the inside tag. Be careful though, because some of the imported juicy does just the opposite and uses the thread that matches the tag.

Juicy Couture Manufactures Outside the Glamorous USA!

Contrary to some beliefs, Juicy Couture does manufacture outside the US. Surprised? I was too. Here are the types of Juicy Couture that you will see not made in the USA:

Cashmere
Fur-Trimmed Jackets
Rabbit Fur jackets
Silk
Poly
High End Juicy

I  Contacted a few of the MAJOR retail chains to verify and here is a response from NORDSTROMS:

Thank you for contacting Nordstrom regarding where the Juicy Couture Faux Fur Trim Vest is made.  I do see that it is made in China.  Most Juicy Couture items are made in the United States, but not all.  I do apologize for any confusion this has caused.  If there is anything else I can assist you with, please feel free to contact me.
