Although most people have moved away from vinyl (and more recently even CD’s!) a hardcore group of enthusiasts, made up mainly from nightclub DJ’s, still revel in the famous black plastic disk. Selling your vinyl is relatively easy these days. Its almost guaranteed that somewhere online, there will be an enthusiast, desperate to get their hands on your surplus songs.

Step One
Put your duff tunes on eBay Music enthusiasts with tastes varying from the Spice Girls to Metallica search the world renowned auction site for specific tracks and tunes. If you’re lucky, they’ll be looking for yours!

Step Two
Advertise your music on community websites. There are always plenty of music fans looking for bargains on these sites.

Step Three
Take your vinyl to your local specialist independent music retailer. If you’re lucky they’ll recognize your dusty old vinyl as collectors items, and give you a very good price!

If you have a large collection, contact local DJ’s (by looking online and in the local yellow pages) and see if they would be interested in buying your surplus for a good price.

Step Five
Take your vinyl to a car boot sale. Specialist music collectors are always in attendance at these, to try to pick up a bargain. Make sure you get a good price for your records, as these dealers are guaranteed to push you for a big discount!

Step Six
If your vinyl is really awful (Elton John or early Cliff Richard!) perhaps it would be a better idea to take it to your local charity shop, rather than try to sell it. Local schools and charitable music enterprises might also like your records.

* Early pressings of certain vinyl are worth a lot more than other pressings. Always check the details on your vinyl before parting with it!
