Hi! Welcome to my guide on selling Gymboree and other used children's clothes on e-bay! With the right information in your listing, you can sell your gently used clothes for a nice profit - which you can then invest on new clothes!! It is pretty easy to make an infomative and attractive listing which will draw in potential buyers.
I began selling new with tags Gymboree when my daughter was about 6 months old. I quickly realized what great quality these clothes were and I also learned that even gently used Gymboree could sell on e-bay for huge amounts of money! Of course, you aren't limited just to Gymboree. There are plenty of name brand clothes that are in demand such as Janie & Jack, Carter's, Old Navy, Baby Gap, etc.
Here is my advice:
Number One: When you buy clothes for your children, write down information like line names for future reference. Companies like Gymboree and Janie & Jack realease their clothes in lines throughout each season. Each line has a name and only a certain number of pieces are released. This is why used clothes in good condition can sell so well on e-bay. Once these items are sold out, e-bay is practically the only place to find these hard to find pieces. I suggest keeping a small notebook and writing down the name of the line so that you can include it in your future listing. Many times people will search by the line so this can be vitally important to draw in more prospective bidders.
Number Two: Always wash your clothes according to the instructions on the tag. To avoid shrinkage, fading and wash wear it is very important that you care for your clothes correctly. I wash my daughter's clothes inside out in cold water with a free and clear detergent. I feel that a free and clear is better than dreft or other detergents because it is free of dyes which could potentially stain delicate garments. Some people line dry their clothes to greatly reduce the risk of shrinkage, but if this is not an option for you I suggest using the lowest heat setting on your dryer. Most dryers also have an option in which the dryer senses when the clothes are dry and shuts off automatically. This will also save you money on your electric bill as opposed to a timed dry cycle!!
Number Three: Store your clothes clean and folded in a safe place. When your kids outgrow an item or it becomes the wrong season, you will probably want to wait a few months to list on e-bay - No one wants to buy shorts in December!! I wash and fold all of the clothes which I plan on selling and store them in one of those rubbermaid tubs with the snap-on lids.
Number Four: Create your listing! If you are planning on listing lots of things you may want to subsuscribe to a site like Sellers Sourcebook . They have tons of templates, including ones that match all of the old and new Gymboree and Janie & Jack lines. They also have free picture hosting, so you can put as many pictures as you like in your listing. Speaking of pictures, you will want to take plenty of good ones. I like to take a picture of the entire garment and then close-up pictures of any small details so that potential buyers can get a good idea of what the item really looks like. Then you just write up your description and you're ready to sell!
Item Description Key: NWT - New With Tags, NWOT - New Without Tags, EUC - Excellent Used Condition, GUC - Good Used Condition
Never be afraid to note any flaws or small stains that your item may have. If there is a little wash wear or a tiny spot, just explain where it is and take a picture of it if you can. Most of the time, people will understand and your item will most likely still sell. It is better to be honest and upfront with people!
Well, I hope that this guide has given you some good information and tips on how to mantain and list your children's clothes on e-bay. As a stay at home Mom I know how expensive kids clothes can be and besides buying and selling on e-bay is fun!!
