Introduction
Second Life has everything a virtual world needs--social occasions, creative outlets, a programmed infrastructure and even an economy. Using the Second Life currency, the Linden dollar (L$), members buy and sell objects, real estate, skills and services, just as they do in the real world. Follow these steps to sell your products or skills in Second Life.

Step One
Refer to the Second Life home page for membership information (see the Resources section below). Click "Join Now" to establish a membership. Premium membership is recommended but not necessary to participate in Second Life commerce.

Step Two
Click the "Search," "Commerce" and other relevant buttons to see what is in demand among Second Life denizens.

Step Three
Use "Map" and "Mini-map" to "teleport" around the site. Interview a variety of members to discover what they spend their Linden dollars on.

Step Four
Notice that not all popular items are objects. New textures, created with scripting, are especially coveted for clothing, rocks, plants and even avatar tattoos. You must place items such as textures and clothing in boxes before you can sell them (see Resources below).

Step Five
Practice building your objects, adding animation, whatever you need to do to make them unique. Don't forget to save after every change.

Step Six
Right-click the object you want to sell. Choose "Edit" and then select the "For Sale" option. After you click "For Sale," enter the price.

Overall Tips & Warnings

     Review the tutorials on building objects, making objects "do things," and using the LSL scripting language (see Resources below).
     Making salable objects in the virtual world takes quite a bit of skill and practice. If you are not familiar with the LSL programming language and object-manipulation techniques, this may not be the best way for you to earn a living in the virtual world.
     You may have to temporarily disable your pop-up blocker to teleport or access video tutorials.
     For privacy's sake, keep personal information, especially of a financial nature, to yourself. Do not release any sensitive info, like your credit card number, to other members of Second Life.
