How to Rip off a Buyer - 101
I have and am still finding ways to rip off the Buyer..... If you the buyer dont know you're stuff, you will be ripped off by unscrupulous sellers......
Lesson #1 Charge over-inflated shipping. Put said item up for sale for a penny or .99 cents, then charge out the wazoo for shipping ( and handling).....
Lesson #2 Charge outrageous shipping insurance and make it mandatory....like 10.00 on a 2.00 item
Lesson #3 pad the scale ..List an item a pound or two more then it really is so the calculator charges more... Hey they can't accuse you of charging to much, you got a machine doing it for you.....
If you the buyer dont look at shipping charges, and if ya dont know go to the post office and ask... Hell go to usps.com.... post office online and find out the shipping costs.....You better have an idea the weight of the item as well. A box to ship is less then a pound .normally ( for priority) but to be fair we will round it up to a pound. So a tshirt weighs.., heck lets say 10 oz.. That is less then 2 lbs. Priority should cost 8.00. But why pay priority when Parcel post is just as quick and cheaper. Put that same shirt in a tyvek bag , fold it down and Viola....Less then $4.00 to mail,.. it should be about $2.00 and change actually.
First class mail NEVER goes out for more then 3.50.
( $3.27 from L.A. to N.Y. for 13oz. Same for alaska and Ha.) They never accept more then 13.oz in weight for first class, so earbuds, a babys outfit, a t-shirt should never weigh more then 13 oz. and should never cost 7.00 to ship. If it says we ship first class for $5.00 WRONG! Caveat Emptor!
If the seller provides a Shipping Calculator and a t-shirt comes up as 8.00 to ship, I would read the whole ad, See how they are shipping, see if there are any other fees listed, Like insurance, and write to the seller . Start by asking the weight of the shirt. Ask if there are any fees not listed, and finally ask if they can ship it out cheaper.... EDUCATE YOURSELF.
Don't feel like you have to buy it at that price....If more people say NO then Sellers wont be overcharging.
I ship small lightweight things like clothing, basically anything that wont break or get banged up, in tyvex bags from the P.O., they are free and can be turned inside out when NOT shipping priority!
Look at Media Mail.... Media is one of the cheapest way to send. It is only good for books, magazines, software, video/dvds and music. You cannot ship earphones, puzzles, clothes and other things thru media mail. Some sellers may do so, but they risk their stuff getting confiscated if they are caught. Problems for them and maybe you. If your seller offers to ship illegally that should be a red Flag.
Yes there may be times when a seller overcharges in shipping, especially international sales, when you have to guess it is easier to overcharge and refund then to come back to the buyer and ask for more money.
An honest seller will offer to refund any serious overages. To me anything over a dollar should be refunded.
If more buyers Educated themselves on this then ebay wont have so many dishonest sellers.
They are not policing the site, YOU must be on guard since they will not!
