Paint can labels contain a wealth of information - if you can sort through the terms and codes.  Below are descriptions of the information available on paint labels:

Common name - Generally accepted or descriptive name.
Hue + name - Substitute hue approaching the common hue
Trade name - Trademarked, copyrighted or brand name
Mixed pigments - Combination of two or more colors
Color index name - Precise name within a color system for consistent reproduction (ex. Pantone)
Color index number - Precise number within a color system for consistent reproduction (ex. Pantone)
Lightfastness - Quality rating, must be I or II to meet ASTM standards
ASTM Quality Standard Identifier - Indicates the paint conforms to industry standards (D-####)
ASTM Health Standard Identifier - Indicates the paint is non-toxic (D-4236)
