Well, it's about time I shared my secret with you all. After various failed attempts, I think I have mastered the way to safely package and ship a framed oil painting. Let's start:
- First, you'll need to stretch you oil painting on a wooden frame, but I assume you already know how to do that.
- Now, after you take your framed canvas painting, you must cut 4 corners of Styrofoam to protect the edges.
- How do you do this? It's simple. Just take any precision knife and heat it up with a flame. After it gets hot cut the Styrofoam so it makes corner shapes. The heated knife will cut through like butter.
- Next, take the Styrofoam corners and place them on the 4 corners of the frame. Take duck tape and start spinning it around to fasten the corners in place. Do this first to the width and then to the length.
- Now comes the wrapping part: you'll need industrial cling wrap nylon. Simply wrap the frame like you would wrap a school sandwich until you feel you get some good resistance.
- You're almost done. Now take the wrapped frame and use the duck tape around the frame so it will look like the British Flag. That's right, you have to fasten it tight going zig zag.
- That's it you're done.
