And yes, unfortunately, it seems that there needs to be a review written on this subject....lol!

As a professional shopper and now a professional seller, I have purchased and sold just about anything you can imagine on Ebay.  From cosmetics to stress toys to Neopets to clothing, I have seen just about it all.

And I believe that it's time that someone writes something about the subject.

There are just a few simple rules to follow and you will be a hit seller - well as far as the packing thing goes...

1.) Don't mail something to someone packed in a way that you wouldn't present to someone at a party as a gift.  For example, you wouldn't give your Grandma two pairs of pants in an envelope would you??

2.) Make sure your item is clean - whether it be a sweater or a picture, take the time to make sure that someone receives a clean item.  And no, I am not talking about a 30 year old stain on a 50 year old doll that just won't come out.  I am talking about the "common sense" kind of clean.  Dust knicknacks, launder used clothing, wipe off fingerprints on a mirror.

3.) Make sure your item smells good.  Or at least as good as possible.  If you own a resale shop, odds are a lot of your items will just smell, well, old.  If you can't wash it, then at least try to get the smell out of it as best as you can using Febreze or something like it. (Note:  I like to spritz the packing materials of my item with a lightly fragranced body spray...)

4.) If you are a business and have an Ebay store, then don't forget to advertise that.  Enclose business cards and a thank you letter...  I know that I always go back to a seller that thanks me for my business and asks for repeat business.

5.) Unfortunately a lot of people don't seem to know this, but PRIORITY MAIL BOXES from the USPS are FREE!!!!  And yes, you can even order them online and they will deliver them right to you.  All you need is a little packing tape, and BINGO, you are good to go!

6.) Use the shipping/postal service labels that Ebay provides.  For one they are more legible than most handwriting and two, they are specifically formatted to be read by the scanners at the Post Office which insures a faster delivery.

And now consider this - which I deem to be my most IMPORTANT POINT:

7.) Whether it be a McDonald's Happy Meal Toy or a Mink Jacket - the person at the other end is LOOKING FORWARD to receiving that item.  If they didn't, they wouldn't have bid on it in the first place.  So, remember, even if you consider your item a worthless piece of junk that just collects dust in the attic the buyer considers it to be like gold.  So take the time and make the effort and let them BE HAPPY when they open your package... Around here it's almost like Christmas everyday - or at least my kids think so!

And don't forget, if you like this article, you can visit my store at www.stores.ebay.com/Kai-Design-LTD and bid on one of my AWESOME CUSTOM creations... in addition to getting something that's really cool at least you know that the packaging will be nice....:)
