What do you do when the photo of the fabric you are interested in isn't a quality picture, due to poor lighting or inexperience of the photographer. It could be that your computer monitor is not acclimated to view many colors and the fabric looks distorted. Whatever the case, I have an idea of finding out a more exact way to see the color. The only thing you may need to purchase is a big box of Crayola Crayons. Ask the seller to tell you the color of crayon that best matches the fabric they are selling. Sometimes the color is the color of the wax crayon itself or sometimes it is the coloring on white paper that best matches the fabric color. It may not work in all cases but you don't have much to lose if you can't find a match. Investing in a box of Crayola Crayons shouldn't be a waste, you can always use them to color right on your cotton fabrics. But that's another subject!
This Mary Engelbreit Fabric is the crayola color "Red" when you color on white paper.
This Plaid Fabric is the crayola colors "Salmon", "Cornflower" & the Yellow is darker then the "Dandelion"
