PvPMAX Game's Golditemshop
Introduction
As you enjoy your membership in the Second Life virtual world, you will accumulate stuff--scripts for your creations, instructions for your avatar's movements and appearance, files copied from the library and many other types of information. All of this is part of your inventory, and it can become a little difficult to manage. Fortunately, you'll find plenty of assistance available to keep your inventory organized. Here are some tips.
Step One
Visit the Second Life home page (see the Resources section below). Click on the "Join" link, fill out the requested information and start the necessary download.
Step Two
Click on the green icon that appears on your desktop and explore Second Life. The first thing to put into your inventory will probably be the attributes of your avatar. You will find more items when you visit various locations, such as "Help Island" and "Orientation Island."
Step Three
Begin organizing your inventory as soon as you leave your first destination. On your main page in "Second Life Client," click on "Inventory."
Step Four
Delete any "Trash" items you won't need again.
Step Five
Double-click to open a folder (such as "Textures," "Clothing" or "Animation") and "put away" the items that go there.
Step Six
Organize the items within each folder; for example, place sets of clothing that you "wear" together into subfolders. Repeat this process whenever you add or subtract anything from your inventory.
Step Seven
Watch your volume. Check frequently on the number of items in your inventory (displayed at the top of the "Inventory" page). Set a limit on the number of items you collect. Experts recommend sticking to about 2,500, though it is easy to reach 5,000 without realizing it. Delete anything you don't use. Be brutal.
Step Eight
Check the Inventory Management Tutorial for more suggestions. You'll find more organizational tools available for additional cost (see Resources below).
Overall Tips & Warnings
There is plenty to learn from Second Life tutorials and articles, but don't overlook another excellent resource--your fellow members. Activate "Chat" or "IM" (Instant Messaging) to talk to anyone who appears on your screen (see Resources below).
The Second Life download occupies a lot of space on your computer. You may experience slowdowns and freezes not only in Second Life but in other programs as well, especially if your computer is more than 2 or 3 years old.
