Yes, with the right tools and supplies, you can easily use your favorite beads to create gorgeous earrings!

You need the following tools:

Needle Nose Pliers

Wire Cutters

The following tool will make things even easier:

Round Nose Needle Nose Pliers (this is what I mean by "round")

Now, you need some supplies:

Earwires (this is what goes into your pierced ear) - I've chosen a silver plated "coil with ball" style

Headpins (this is what goes through the bead holes to make the hanging part of the earring, and yes it looks exactly like an extra long traditional pin) - I have chosen a 2" length headpin in silver.

 

Now to the beads!  I have chosen faceted Czech glass beads in aquamarine, in two different sizes.

I could just insert the headpin to make a simple earring...

But I want earrings with a little more pizzaz!

So I search out some "spacer beads" - in my case I have chosen different kinds of plated silver beads:

  

Some are round, some are long and oval, some are flat, some are .... they just need to look good between your beads.

Now I experiment using different spacer beads to find out what I like best.  Here what I ended up liking:

(You can even try adding an accent bead in a different color or shape:)

I've decided to go with the all aquamarine design.  Now it's time to turn those beads into earrings!

First, grip the headpin with your needle nose plyers snug on top of your topmost bead:

Please be patient with the pictures - I'm trying to use one hand to show you what to do and the other to take the picture!

Now, using the plyers, bend the headpin about 45 degrees:

If you have round tip needle nose plyers, at this point switch to them (after you've made the 45 degree bend).

You are closer than you think to being finished!  Now, using your finger, bend the headpin about 3/4 of the way around the plyers (in the picture above I would need to bend it counter clockwise to make sure the loop will be right above the beads).  This is what it looks like when you are finished this step (see the wire bend around the plyers):

If you headpin looks too long to make a nice looking loop, cut off the extra with your wire cutters:

This is what your earring should look like now:

 

Now you need to add the earwire to finish off the earring! 

Add the earwire so that the loop on the earwire that holds the hanging part of the earring is now linked to the loop you are creating:

Now, using your needle nose plyers (preferably the round tipped kind), close your loop:

Now your earring looks like this!

Make your second earring, and then enjoy your gorgeous new earrings that you made yourself!  Remember, this gets easier with practice.  The first time might take a long time and be lopsided, but pretty soon you'll be making them like a pro!
