Grungy Candles and Battery Operated Candles
Give new life to old short tapers (ugly partially used ones) and short pillars laying around the house or plastic battery operated candles and tealites.
Melt cheap .50 long taper candle from $-store (white) and throw in ground cinnamon, ground cloves, and instant coffee (more for dark color) from $-store.
I used my 4 qt crock-pot to melt wax. Take out the liner and put a small heatproof bowl in bottom (grab-it bowl"). Turn on high to melt wax - when melted turn down to low. There is no open fame or no worry of flash fire. If wax gets too liquid you just turn off for short period of time. This is a no mess way and easy clean up. I just ran hot water in by small bowl to clean and not a drop of wax in crock-pot.
Let wax slightly cool on low setting (if your wax is too hot it won't stick as well on plastic). Use an old small brush (art brush). Blob wax with brush on the sides of your tealite, partially used candle, votive or pillar – let cool and then do 2 more times (no wax on bottom of battery operated candles). Now do the tops of battery tealits with a smaller brush (blob on) keeping wax off small bulb. If you get wax on bulb you may remove with a small scraper (fingernail, credit card, palette knife).
You may dust extra cinnamon on if you wish (I don’t).
You can give those wrong colored old pillars a new primitive grungy life
This is fun to do and does not take long.
