With today's poorly made clothing and cheap jewelry, Vintage Clothing is a Breath of Fresh Air.  Clothing constructed in the "Good ol' Days" was made with care.  Each piece was carefully created paying special attention to quality and details.  What used to be known as "Not Cool", Resale Shopping or wearing Pre-worn Clothing is now highly encouraged as it is one of the only ways to get Exclusive, One-of-a-Kind Clothing, and it is also VERY good for the environment because it is using what we already have instead of using our resources to make More Clothing.  Many Celebrities like Hilary Duff and Misha Barton also frequent Thrift Stores looking for that Unique Piece to add to the Wardrobe.

In this guide, I will be sharing with you the ways to Look Vintage without looking like you just walked out of a Time Machine.  Hopefully I can help you get attention with your clothing for all the right reasons and to be able to Smile when your friends ask you, "Where Did You Get That?"  and you can say, "It's Vintage"  :)

There are many Ways to Find Vintage Pieces at a Reasonable Price.  Thrift Shops, Consignment Shops, Yard Sales, and of course, eBay are all great ways to find your Vintage Wardrobe.  You will need a good chunk of time to spend to sort through all the Clothing to determine if the clothing is a Incredible Vintage Gem or Just an Out Dated Rock.

The Secret to Wearing Vintage Clothing is to Mix it in with Modern Day Pieces.  If you Wear ALL Vintage, you look Out Dated, but if you incorporate modern-day clothing with your Fabulous Vintage Pieces, then you look Fashionable!

If you want to start small or want the Look without spending a lot of money, begin by adding Vintage Accessories! Some of it you might even be able to find it in Grandma's Jewelry Box.

Purses, Necklaces, Brooches, Bracelets, Rings, Scarves...There is so much out there to add to your wardrobe that can be such a Big Statement.

Purses:   You can tell Some Vintage Purses from the Modern ones because the Vintage Purses tend to be Smaller and with less pockets.  Look for Purses with great Textures.  Patent Leather, Beaded, and Patchwork Purses are all great.

Jewelry:   You can identify Some Vintage Jewelry by the Clasps.  Many Necklaces and Bracelets have beautifully detailed clasps that are works of art in themselves.  Classic Pearls are a staple that every woman should have in their wardrobe.  Also the beaded multi-strand necklaces are so fun and chic.

Rings: are one of my personal favorite things to look at/find/buy.  Vintage Cocktail Rings (the rings with the VERY LARGE stone, etc.) are so Beautiful and are very popular items to wear.

Scarves:   Scarves are probably one of the cheapest vintage items you can pick up and fortunately, there are so many ways to wear them.  You can tie them around you neck in so many different ways, wear them in your hair, as a belt, or even tie them on the strap of your purse to add a special flare to your look.

If you have a little bit more money to spend or are serious about your vintage look, Clothing is the next stop.  First you need to decide which looks you want (20s Flapper,30s Old Hollywood, 40s Pin-Up or Military, 50s Swing,  60s Mod or Hippie, 70s Disco, 80s Punk or New Wave, and even approaching the 90s being vintage with the Grunge look).  Obviously 80's and 90's are going to be the easiest to find because they were the most recent. But with a little more looking you will be sure to find other pieces from the decades.

Here are a list of vintage items that were popular at those times:
