Sellers, buyers, and collectors need to identify Longaberger Baskets for calculating seller or insurance value and for buying the correct liner, protector, or tie on accessory. Knowing how to measure a Longaberger basket is essential to discovering the correct identity as most of the baskets do not have the name on the basket. Longaberger lists measurements for each basket type in the Longaberger Wishlists and Longaberger Flyers. Bentley Longaberger Collection Guide uses the Longaberger figures. Because Longaberger baskets are handwoven around a set frame by different weavers, the tightness of the weave can produce a slight variation in measurement. Generally the variation is not more than 1/4" in any direction. Longaberger Baskets are measured across the top of the basket from outer edge to outer edge by Length (L), which is the longest side of the basket, width (W), which is the other side of the basket, and Height (H), which is the measurement from bottom of basket to top WITHOUT including handle of any type. Longaberger NEVER includes the Handle in the height measurements.
