I have written this guide to help potential buyers have a great Ebay experience. There are a few basic rules to observe if you want to be thrilled with your transaction.
1. Read the seller's feedback. Don't expect it to be perfect because things do happen. Read some of the comments before bidding on that seller's auctions. Most sellers these days are doing a great job. But if you read several feedbacks saying the same negative thing, it is best to move on.
2. Read the ad carefully. Study the pictures. Ask questions if something isn't absolutely clear to you. I can't stress good communication enough.
3. Be considerate when asking for more photos and for answers to a list of questions. Only ask for more information if you are seriously considering purchasing that item.
4. Don't expect more out of an old item than the seller has represented it to be. If the ad says "TLC", "Repair", or "Parts", then don't expect it to be the same quality as a higher priced item.
5. Be honest and fair. Don't expect the seller to refund your money if the seller did not make an error.
6. When you write a seller for any reason it is best to use a considerate tone. Don't offer half their listing price. Kindly ask if they might accept a lower price if you feel it is too high. Only offer less if your research shows it to be overpriced. The seller who is asking top price is often the person who handles their business most professionally. I will remember the nice purchase far after the memory of the bargain price has faded.
7. Be prepared to pay as soon as the listing ends. Your seller is able to operate more professionally if he or she can ship your package immediately. I normally ship within 24 hours on business days. My buyers often receive their packages in 3 to 5 days.
8. Leave positive feedback with 5 star ratings in all categories when able. If you cannot do that, you should write your seller and ask for a solution. Never threaten with potential negative feedback.
