- Silver coins are always worth more than their face value
- coin prices are determined by demand, scarcity and condition
- check your local library for any books about coin collecting or coin value
- Know the grading system for coins Mint, Uncirculated, Proof, Extremely Fine, Very Fine, Fine, Very Good, Good and About Good
- Research your coins, the more you know about your coins the better chance you have of impressing a potential buyer and not getting ripped off
- Search your coins under the advanced search on ebay, this way you can see what coins similar to your's have sold for in previous auctions
- Check if their are local coin dealers in your area, they can help give you a fair price if you are looking to sell or if you just want an appraisal
- Avoid cleaning coins, cleaning your coins will greatly decrease your coin's value
