In Regards to Finding a Suit/Sportcoats True Size
On Certain occasions fabric content tags are torn out of garments, these tags may also contain the original size of the garment
On occasion, you will see sellers list a garment as 46R, But in reality, these garments might only equate to a 43R
The way one can determine the true size would be to measure across the waist of the blazer, For instance the average Italian Blazer may equate to a perfect 42" Measurement across it's waist
This is done by laying the blazer completely flat, Then measuring across the front and Doubling That Measurement
For Instance if One gets a 21" Measurement " On The Center waist of the blazer, and doubles it, It = 42"
Italian and English suits tend to be cut in a tighter fashion and should measure on the stated size
IE 42 R, These should measure 42" In the waist area
American suits tend to be more liberal, And will measure slightly larger
IE Brooks 42R = 43" Waist Etc
Also do keep in mind that dry cleaning DOES Shrink Garments and can possibly affect the future wear of a Suit as well as its Pre-Owned Size Condition
For instance if an Armani suit was laundered a Bit Too Often it can shrink as much as 2" in the waist area
So a person who buys an armani stated at 42R that has a Blazer waist of only 40" has actually purchased a 40R " Due to excessive shrinkage of the dry cleaner"
It always helps to have the waist measurement of the sportcoat
Next time your wife says your getting too fat, You can always blame the dry cleaner for shrinkage " Because it's true!"
I Just thought i would post info about THIS VERY IMPORTANT Measurement, Since most suit/Blazer sellers do not post the waist measurement
Hope this helps
