How do you confirm your address? Does your seller require you to have a confirmed shipping address via PayPal? Is easy, it's free, and creates a more confident buying and selling community.

What is a confirmed address?

A confirmed address is a term PayPal gives to the address you have registered with them. It is usually the same address you receive your credit card billing statements. PayPal communicates tot he seller this address, and many sellers only ship to confirmed addresses since it better assures them that the buyer is using his or her own account and less likely that the PayPal account has been compromised. (You don't have to have a credit card, or actually pay with a credit card. Registering your credit card is just the easiest way to do this step.)
A verified address is another security measure that assures the PayPal member has connected their account with a bank account.

HOW DO YOU CONFIRM YOUR SHIPPING ADDRESS?  It's easy. It is done after you log in to your PayPal account.

Short answer:  Go to your PayPal account, and add a credit card for to the account.

The steps to follow are as follows:

   1. Go to PayPal (www.paypal.com) and log in to your own PayPal account. (Links cannot be provided within this guide, so you can go directly to your PayPal account)

   2. Click 'Profile' at the top of your account page. Access your Profile and update your Street Address, or add a new address, so that it matches the one on your credit card statement.

  • Note, A Post Office Box is okay for a confirmed address.
  • You can also confirm an alternate address with PayPal so you have the primary as a PO Box, and an alternate as shipping.

   3. Click the "Street Address" link under the Account Information heading. Make sure that your credit card billing address is listed as one of the addresses.

Why Confirm your shipping address?

PayPal offers confirmed addresses to help:
  •  Guard against stolen credit cards. (someone has less likelihood to steal your number, change your address on the account, and charge money in your account.)
  •  Prevent identity theft.
  •  Decrease chances of receiving a fraud related chargeback.
