Steps
- Unplug the earbuds. Move the iPod out of harm's way. The last thing you want is for your iPod to be damaged.
- Take the cotton ball and wet it with water. Make sure that there is no water dripping from it.
- Gently rub along the earbuds with the cotton ball. This can take a while depending on how dirty it was originally. It is recommended to clean the entire earbud.
- Repeat the steps until the earbuds are clean.
Tips
- Using a fine bristled toothbrush will get into the tiny holes in the buds and a cotton ball won't. Do NOT put water on the toothbrush; This will damage your earbuds.
- This is best done with water. Other types of cleaning liquids may damage your earbuds.
- Q-tips work fine as well, but it may take more work to get the earbuds clean because they are smaller.
Warnings
- Don't let any liquids into the earbuds, or they may break. Using good quality isopropyl alcohol or a very small amount of water lessens this risk, so long as you allow them to dry thoroughly before using.
