When shopping for a consumer electronics warranty plan, it is important to understand all the features and to compare pricing before making your decision.

Make sure the warranty plan gives you what you need.  Consider the following:

1. Pricing: Needless to say.  However, you should also consider other features as well.
2. Item coverage: Most reputable eBay sellers offer 30-day warranty.  Getting coverage beyond 30 days is essential for used and refurbished item.
3. PDA: Does it cover drive failure, memory slot failure, keyboard buttons breaking, LCD screen failure?

7. Paperless Management: How do you manage the warranties for different items?  Does your warranty plan allow you managing warranties and filing claims online, no matter where you shop, without having to hunt down paperwork or receipts?
8. Deductible: Any deductibles for coverage?  Does the warranty cover all parts and labor expenses?
9. Transferable: Is it transferable anytime for resale or as a gift?
10. Money-Back Guarantee: Can the warranty plan be canceled anytime during the coverage period?
11. Insurer Rating: A warranty plan is like your home or auto insurance.  How is the plan provider rated financially?  You do not want to risk your hard-earned money if the company goes to bankrupt a month later.
