I know how frustrating it is when you want to purchase a Louis Vuitton bag on ebay and are faced with so many that you are unsure about their authenticity.  Here are a few things to look for when trying to decide if that Louis Vuitton Denim Pleaty is authentic.

The Hardware

AUTHENTIC

The Registered LV trademark in the center of the buckle is LIGHTLY engraved.  Notice the studs on the leather piece the handle loop is attached to -- see how lightly the LOUIS VUITTON is engraved on those also?  Notice the length of this piece of leather.  Now compare them to the hardware on the fake denim pleaty below:

FAKE DENIM PLEATY HARDWARE

See how long the leather piece is in the first picture compared to the picture of the authentic bag above?  Notice how rough the stitching looks? See how rough the engraving is on the studs and how smooth the authentic one above is?  On the buckle notice how deeply the Louis Vuitton registered trademark is engraved?  Not lightly engraved like the authentic one. 

THE INSIDE

AUTHENTIC INTERIOR

The authentic bag has the leather embossed tag sewn to the lining ABOVE the pouch pocket.  The fabric inside the top of the bag is plain denim fabric. Compare that to the fake Denim Pleaty below:

FAKE INTERIOR

Notice the embossed leather tag is sewn directly onto the interior pocket on the fake denim pleaty?  Also the fake bag is lined with monogrammed denim fabric NOT plain denim fabric.

THE BOTTOM

The picture above is what the bottom of an authentic Louis Vuitton denim pleaty should look like.  The pattern should line up perfectly!

This is a picture of the bottom of a FAKE denim pleaty.  The bottom pattern does NOT even line up or blend!
