Hello and welcome to our guide, “How to Buy a Car Online”!

A lot of people may have heard of trim levels, but unless you happen to be something of a car aficionado, you may not know what the term “trim level” actually means. Trim level is a type of designation that vehicle manufacturers allot to multiple model ranges of the same vehicle model that represent specific equipment packages. Simply put, trim levels are labels that show what equipment packages come in a given vehicle model, such as an Acura MDX or a Lexus IS. Trim levels can be designated by letters (LX, CE, XLE, etc.), numbers (63, 300, 450, etc.), or both (325i, 528xi, 3.0si, etc.), as well as by actual words (Limited, Touring, Laredo, etc.). Typically, a vehicle’s trim level is located somewhere on the vehicle in the form of additional letterings or badging.

Trim levels, in addition to showing the differences between equipment packages, can also be used to designate if a vehicle is a limited, anniversary, or special edition. For example, the F-150 truck from Ford has dozens of limited and special editions, including the 4x4, Sport, Eddie Bauer, King Ranch, Lariat, Harley Davidson, NASCAR, Heritage, and much more.

Now that you know what trim levels are, you might be wondering how trim levels might affect your online buying experience. Essentially, trim levels give you a choice of what equipment is in your vehicle, sometimes including items like unique color schemes, special equipment packages, special badges, and more. Researching what equipment comes in a given trim level will help you choose the exact vehicle you want to buy and, in effect, customize your buying experience. And don’t we all want the exact vehicle that we’ve always dreamed about?

If you want to put your newfound knowledge of trim levels to use, check out www.maxspeedautosales.com and take a look at vehicles like the 2006 Infiniti G35, 2006 BMW 325ci, and 2007 BMW 530xit AWD on our Featured Vehicles page. You might find a well-maintained luxury vehicle that catches your eye at Maxspeed Auto Sales, located in Valley Stream, New York!
