How to Build a Car Emergency Kit
With winter hitting in full effect I thought I compile a list of safety items to keep in your car while you travel.
Buy a small duffel bag and compile these items for emergency situations you might encounter while driving.
The basic car kit should include the following items:
- Food that won’t spoil, such as energy bars, beef jerky, etc...
- Water, at least 2L
- Blanket(s)
- Extra clothing and shoes
- Candle in a deep can and matches
- First aid kit with seatbelt cutter
- Warning light or road flares
- Small shovel, scraper and snowbrush
- List of contact numbers
Other Recommended Items to possibly include in your car safety kit are:
- Sand, salt, sawdust, or cat litter
- Antifreeze/ windshield washer fluid
- Tow rope, jumper cables, toolkit, jack, tire iron
- Fire extinguisher
- Roadmaps, whistle and flashlight
- Flares/Flare Gun
