How to Build a Basic First Aid Kit
Below are a list of items that should be included in any basic home-made or store bought first aid kit.
To build your own first aid kit, buy a small duffel bag and fill it with the items listed below. Most items can be purchased at your local Wal-Mart or Drug Store.
The Items to be included are:
Sterile adhesive bandages in assorted sizes
Safety pins
Cleansing agent/soap
Moistened towelettes
Antiseptic
Latex gloves (2 pairs)
Sunscreen
2-inch sterile gauze pads (4-6)
4-inch sterile gauze pads (4-6)
Triangular bandages (3-6)
Non-prescription drugs (see below)
2-inch sterile roller bandages (3 rolls)
3-inch sterile roller bandages (3 rolls)
Scissors
Tweezers
Needle
Swiss Army Knife
Thermometer
Tongue depressors (2)
Tube of petroleum jelly or other lubricant
First Aid manual
Nonprescription drugs: aspirin or other pain reliever, anti-diarrhea medication, antacid, and laxative
