The new feedback system that eBay is rolling out the week of May 19th will bring about some changes in feedback scores that buyers need to be made aware of. Let's take my own scores as of the day I am writing this guide. I am at 99.5% positive rating. However, when I log in to eBay AU or eBay UK, I see that my score on those sites, due to the fact that the new system has already been initiated on those sites, has been reduced to a 98.1% positive rating. Here is WHY. In the new sysem of feedback NEUTRAL FEEDBACK is being counted in the overall positive rating as a NEGATIVE. What this means is that if you leave me a neutral feedback, it will not decrease my TOTAL positives count, but it WILL reduce my overall % score. This change is also going to be RETROACTIVE, so all neutrals left in the past 12 months are going to be figured in on the positive feedback % in a NEGATIVE fashion. What this ultimately means is that the perception of what IS and IS NOT a good seller will need to be revised from the standpoint of the BUYERS. In the past you have been told that anything below a 98% was horrible, but in this new system of things, a 98% is not going to be horrible...In the new system of things, the positive feedback % that BUYERS have come to accept as GOOD may have to be lowered substantially to account for NEUTRALS being designated a NEGATIVE impact where before they had NO impact whatsoever...
