The answer to that question in my opinion is this . The earlier the better! Reading to your child at a very early age provides much needed bonding and cuddle time with your children. Infants love the bright colors in childrens books and also love listening to the sound of your voice. The more close interaction you have with your child the earlier they will learn start vocalizing. These first sounds your child makes may not seem very important at first but these sounds are the beginning of their speech. The more sounds they hear, the more they immitate and the stronger their muscles needed for vocalization get with each new sound they make.
As for toddlers they also love the bright colors. Reading to them helps stimulate their imagination and opens up a whole new world to explore. There are a lot of great books for infants and toddlers as well as older children to be found on Ebay including bathtime books , board books, chapter books , age appropriate workbooks and even coloring and activity books.
Now you may be asking what coloring books can do for my child. Coloring helps your child develop their fine motor skills. I learned this when my own grandson was going through physical therapy. Color with your child help them learn color recognition, shapes, animals and so much more. These are all much needed skills when your child enters school for the first time. My grandchildren have all been given coloring books or pages by the time they are a year old ,of course they are very closely supervised during this activity so they don't eat the crayons or color things they shouldn't .
The earlier you start your child on reading the more likely they are to develop a love for books. Who knows what your child can grow up to be if given the chance to explore the world of books.Open up the world of knowledge to your child today.
