Q.  How do I calculate the proper size Heating Air Conditioning System HVAC units for my needs?
A. There are 3 methods that can be used to help you determine the proper sized equipment you need to purchase.  The first two are the easiest as you can do them in a matter of moments. The last method, being the most accurate, is the most time consuming.
Method 1- Compare to existing system
Method 2- Use the Map and Charts
Method 3- Do a residential load calculation

Method 3:  For an exact scientific calculation on the necessary BTU's your home or business requires, you must do a Residential Load Calculation.  You can do this yourself by going to the link in our (store FAQ) below and using the online calculator. This calculator is designed to give an estimate of the heating needs of a room, combination of rooms, or an entire home. Simply enter the length and width of the area to be heated and select the climate and insulation factors from the pop-up boxes. This is to be used as a general guideline only. Factors such as quantity and size of windows and exterior walls may also affect these calculations.
