Does anyone still believe Diamonds are being marked up 20%-30% or 100%?  With all the competition here on ebay my response is gently wake up please...sellers are seeking modest 5-8% return on a good day. That means if we sell a $200 item we are seeking $16 profit after 6% ebay fees and 3% paypal fees....so lets put all the bad things about greed away for a bit. Again so if you are buying a $1400 diamond 10% is gone already before the sale has even taken place. Considering the average 1 Carat sells for $7500 in the industry as I have been told buy many ebayers seeking diamonds that come to me for either enhanced (cleaned up diamonds) or non enhanced diamonds the prices outside here are extremely high.

Forget even the fact that Diamond Importers/Brokers do not pay $25,0000 a month rent on a shop here in NYC (check Manhattan Retail shop pricing in midtown). An importer is  literally saving so much that if  he sells 40 Carats worth of diamonds on ebay he does not have to increase costs so high. Its simple math $25,000.00 / 40 Carats average sales per month  = $625 minimum per carat required to pay rent in a shop. The internet is much better suited especially now that places like ebay are considered viable trustworthy places between feedback and seller ratings.

Seperately  importers supply the shops with their diamonds and or are brokering excess inventory from a closed off community. Buying direct without paying for someone to rent a shop that you will never visit makes perfect sence.

Although I have seen few true importers/brokers selling diamonds on the side via ebay to promote their excess inventory they are surely the way to go.  My business on ebay surely has been welcome in the community and I although I have never seen another like me I am sure he is or would be welcome too.

Make sure before buying a diamond on ebay or the internet you have done a reality check and know this is not Tiff-any or Harry Wins-tons but just an outlet for lower priced diamonds. You see diamonds as you likely know consist of Cut, Clarity, Color,Carat.  Nobody including me is going to give away a diamond that all 4 of those C's listed prior are going to be perfect. You see flexibility is where we rely on ebayers for good deals on both sides and realistic expectations...avoid hype.

Lets say for example you want a 2ct G colored diamond but only have $4000 well yes you can get it...or if you want a 2ct VS diamond but are flexible on color (or something else) sure you can get it.  You see flexibility and being realistic will always make you happy. However just a suggestion if I or anyone ever says GREAT do business here and now and it has excellent color, excellent cut, excellent clarity, excellent heavy diamond....take it easy and give yourself a reality check.  You came to ebay worried to start out with but being told you have an investment grade diamond is not going to happen here unless you have incredible luck like winning the lottery, winning a car on your birthday or lucky enough to never gain weight and eat as much as you like!

Don't be a dreamer be realistic..don't seek to make money on a diamond any diamond.  IF you buy a boat I always say the moment it hits the water it loses value...you cant sell it for more no matter what the appraisal says. Most times an appraisal simply means replacement value the cost to replace it.

In other words seek your priority Carat Size, Color, Clarity Cut put them in order...THEN you simply know what to expect. IF you want all 4 to be absolutely perfect I regretfully suggest flying to Har-ry Win-stons for a private appointment, bring a broker to review your purchase and call your credit card company and or bank and inform them in advance you intend on spending $50,000. If that doesnt sound like your budget just be flexible and please yourself and remember they are only rocks.

If this straight foward advice made any sence to you at all please click below and let me know thanks !
