We run a Gaming/Hobby store and have customers come in every day selling items. They often ask how THEY can price their items. Many gaming/hobby stores use Becketts and Scrye magazines to price cards, but EBAY prices are "REALITY". NOTE: This method of 'pricing' items can be used for almost anything you sell on Ebay.

First look at the card or item for identifying numbers. A card number or piece number will usually be all you need for a Yu-Gi-Oh card. For Pokemon, Inuyasha, Naruto, DBZ, and many other cards and miniatures, the item name, along with it's number, are what you need. Go to ANY Ebay page and enter the card number and/or name in the TOP RIGHT search box. Enter your info and click SEARCH. If items come up, scroll down the page and look on the left side. Click the COMPLETED ITEMS box, then click the search box below it. If your card or item comes up, look at the SOLD item prices. Take into consideration the shipping cost (if noted) and the location of the seller. Foreign items are usually printed in italics. When pricing an item in the US, use prices from US sellers. NEVER use the price of 'UNSOLD' items in figuring the value of an item.

If nothing showed up in your search of running or completed items, check your spelling first. If the spelling is OK, then eliminate some of the entry. For example: If you entered "Bat Sentry 097', try just entering 'Bat Sentry'. LESS is ALWAYS BETTER!! That means if you want the price of a 1990 Superman Comic from DC and it features supervillain Joker, try just entering Superman. Now look on the left in the categories and click on the comics. Once you have those, add the year 1990. You will likely get alot of hits. So you can add the word Joker and click on the small box below the LEFT search line that says to 'Search Titles and Descriptions'. Likely you have too much info, as most sellers don't give details on the contents (I said most, a few will).

For Yu-Gi-Oh cards, I highly suggest you enter JUST THE CARD NUMBER. If you enter the card name, you will not only get the ones you are looking for, but every re-print, language, grab bag auction, and 'collection' sale that's out there. The card number is on the right side just below the picture. It is NOT the long number on the bottom of the card on the left side. Make sure you enter the entire card number: letters, dash, and numbers.  

Note: We usually throw out the highest sale price and the lowest sale price. What you have left is a realistic value of the item you have 'priced'.
