What Is A Sunshine Cloth?

Sunshine Jewelry Polishing Cloths are a soft 5" x 7" chamois type fabric that is impregnated with a fine powder form metal polishing compound.  They are the best product I've found for polishing vintage sterling silver.  They also work great on gold, brass and copper.  They are available in plastic tubes or folded in small zip top baggies.  Either way, it is the identical product and both work exactly the same.  You can find Sunshine Cloths on ebay.

What About Other Polishing Cloths?

I prefer Sunshine cloths over the polishing cloths sold in department stores.  They are softer, non-scratching, last longer and require less "elbow grease" to get the desired result.  It was my experience that the discount store cloths would lose their effectiveness after just a few uses.  The other cloths also require the use of two different sides during the polishing process.  The Sunshine cloths are effective on both sides, so there's no more trying to remember "which side do I use first?"  Sunshine Cloths are aslo smaller than the other cloths, so they don't take up as much space on the work table or jewelry box.

Just a few swipes are enough to leave the patina on treasured vintage silver, while polishing the high points to enhance detail.  A little more gentle polishing will make sterling gleam, but without the harshness of chemical dips, or the mess of pastes and liquids.

How Do I Care For My Sunshine Polishing Cloth?

Sunshine cloths retain their "magical powers" until they are completely black.  Don't wash your Sunshine cloth - that will ruin it.   Just keep one out on your work table and one in your jewelry box, so they are readily available for heavy tarnish clean-up or a quick touch up!
