There are many gentleman of today that when left with an unmade tie hanging around their neck, will stare at the mirror helplessly and pray that the tie will simply curl its way around their neck and make it self. Well, the bad news is that it won't. (Unless you know something that we don't). The good news though, is that help is finally here! This guide serves as a helpful demonstrative aid to making you look like the best dressed guy in town; or at least one who is suited up with a properly knotted tie; which helps!
There are quite a few knot styles that best apply to specific styles and fabrics of neckwear. In this guide, we have outlined the Half Windsor Knot technique. We have included a basic step by step visual demonsatrtion so it will be easy to follow. Please check out our other guides for other tie knot techniques.
1) The wide end "W" should extend about 12 inches below narrow end "N". Cross wide end "W" over narrow end "N".
2) Bring wide end "W" up around and behind narrow end "N".
3) Bring wide end "W" up.
4) Pull wide end "W" up and through the loop.
5) Bring wide end "W" around front, over narrow end "N" from left to right.
6) Again, bring wide end "W" up and through the loop.
7) Bring wide end "W" down through the knot in front.
8) Using both hands, tighten the knot carefully and draw up to collar.
