Mail Securely, ALWAYS USE A BUBBLE MAILER !! They are cheap ($0.10 each range), they protect the card far better than a plain envelope, and they show the buyer that you care about their purchase and the money they spent. This will lead them back to sellers like you the next time they get a card in the mail that looks like it was found on the ground in a Wal-Mart shopping center during the holiday shopping season !
Putting a card in a penny sleeve and throwing it in a floppy envelope is not secure. You might laugh, but it's happened to me several dozen times over the years with anywhere from $1-$5.00 s&h paid. Needless to say, that was the last time I traded with them. On the other extreme, don't wrap cards so tightly in tape that they can't be accessed without damaging. You should leave some breathing room to let the cards out. Use common sense when you send cards. You don't need to wrap two common cards in a ball of masking tape and cut-up pieces of cardboard to make sure they arrive safely.
Another really common method is to tape the end of a topload to secure the card from slipping out, I do not use nor do I like this way as often the card slips up under the tape and can leave a damaged or sticky spot on the card surface. TEAM BAGS , can solve this problem and they are super cheap. I ship all single card purchases with the card inside of a polysleeve, then slipped inside of a topload, lastly sealed inside of a self-sealed team bag to prevent card from slipping out of protector. There is no hassle for the buyer once the card arrives, no card damage unless someone just bends the bubble mailer in half on purpose at the post office, and it looks so much better than what I receive at some point at least once per week.
Many people have different methods, which is great. Just make sure when you're getting cards ready to go that they're secure and stiff. If the trade involves some more valuable cards, extra toploads on each side and insurance are recommended.
