How To Sell Dolls on eBay

Selling dolls on eBay can be very profitable, or could put you in the red if you don't do your research. One way to see which dolls sell well is by looking at completed auctions on eBay.

Dolls you can buy for resale are everywhere, estate sales, local auctions, thrift stores, garage sales, and your attic. Try to stay away from so proclaimed "collectable dolls". You know the ones. Newer porcelain dolls that are made to be collectable. Unfortunately, most of them don't hold any value because so many of them are made.

Dolls that I've done very well with are dolls from the 70's and 80's, Barbies, Krissy, Cabbage Patch, Strawberry Shortcake, etc.

Okay, so you've done some research and found a doll that sells well.

First, take some great pictures, and lots of them. Close ups of the face, with and without the clothes. And also don't forget to take pictures of any makers marks. Doll buyers like to see those.

Next, inspect the doll in a well lit room. Actually, if you take the doll outside and look at it in the daylight, thats best. Write down any flaws you see so you can write it into the listing.

Next you need to smell the doll, lol. I know, it sounds funny. But doll buyers will ask you if there are any bad or offensive odors.

When you write your listing, you must write it as if there are no pictures in the listing. Give the height of the doll, hair and eye color. Any flaws you see, and bad smells if there are any. Also note any makers marks. When you write, use paragraphs. Its easier for your buyer to read it.

Okay, so you've listed the doll and sold her at a great price!! Now you have to pack her to she gets to your buyer safely. I use tissue paper to wrap each limb then secure it with scotch tape. Then I wrap the body in bubble wrap. I put in in a box with peanuts to cushion the doll on each side. Make sure your box is big enough. The doll should not be touching any of the sides of the box. You can get free boxes from the post office at their website.

And remember, its the sellers responsibilty to make sure the buyer receives their item in the condition it was described. Either require the buyer pay insurance, or buy it yourself. It will eliminate a lot of problems later.

Thanks so much for reading my guide, I hope it guide has been helpful to you.
