What is a household orgainizer, you might ask......

A household orgainizer is a way of keeping all the vital information involved in keeping your household running smoothly right at your fingertips!

Before you start, here is a list of some items you will need to get started:

  • A 3 ring binder (now's a great time to get them at Staples for about 69 cents)
  • A Computer Printer
  • Various computer paper, although all white will work as well
  • An internet connection
  • Dividers and tabs for the binder (also found at Staple, Walmart etc)
  • Clear page protectors (a Box of 100 will run you about 5 dollars)

Now what you need to do is figure out what you need to include in your organizer. This will depend on the household. I made several for gifts last Christmas and each was different.

Some Ideas include:

  • Recipes
  • Budget Worksheets
  • Master Shopping lists
  • Address and Phone numbers
  • Acct numbers for utilities
  • Password sheets
  • Calender
  • Medication records
  • Doctors, police and other emergency contacts
  • Household tips
  • Household Inventory

All of these and so much more can be printed off the internet for FREE! Just type in a search for free household worksheets, free printables, and free recipes.

Now this is in no way a complete listing of what to include, but I think it gives you a good idea. Get creative! Print out holiday ideas, lists for Christmas shopping, a card list, birthday lists.

Now, once you have printed out all the sheets you wish to include, you will put the binder together. To do this, separate the information according to themes. Put the pages inside the sheet protectors. This is where the dividers come in. Now that you have your themes, label the dividers. Some examples:

  • Kitchen
  • Calender
  • Phone #'s and Addresses
  • Storage
  • Shopping

Now assemble the book according to your themes. You can be finished or take it one step further and personalize the books as I did. I went to the craft store and purchased fabric to cover the albums. All you need is a yard of fabric per book.

Here are some simple instructions:

  • Lay the book over your fabric, centering it
  • Fold the fabric over the cover to see how much you need to cut. Fabric should cover the whole inside cover.
  • Cut the fabric where needed and also cut along the top and bottom to one inch in either direction.
  • Now take a hot glue gun and carefully adhere the top and bottom to the album. Simply put the glue on the cover in a line and fold the fabric over.
  • Take the side material and adhere it to the inside cover.
  • The whole process is just like covering a book with a paper bag! Simple....

There you have a personalized household orgainizer. Very easy to assemble and it makes a great gift! Enjoy!
