How to Maintain Your Hereke

Your Hereke carpets are produced with very stringent quality standards and they will last for a lifetime if maintained properly. Following are some maintenance tips you can follow to prolong the life of your precious Hereke.

1. They should be kept away from humidity and should not be left in moist environments

2. They should not be left in watery environments being possibility of water contact such as furnace water, flowerpot water, fountain water.

3. In case they will not be used for a long time, naphthalene -in the form of flake or tablet- or granule powder soap should be strewed on them, they should be rolled and put into cotton clothes and be kept horizontally.

4. They should not be kept in nylon bags for long time. In case they will not be used and kept for a long time, they should be kept and aired in open air for a sufficient time for at least one or two times a year. In case of permanent use, they shall be kept away from sun light for long time.

5. Carpets and kilims should be cleaned by electrical sweeper or brush, but they should not be shaken off or whipped.

6. Quality special carpet shampoo should be used in cleaning dirty carpets and kilims, and care should be given for not wetting the carpet thoroughly.

7. Remnants of cleaning substances should be cleaned with rinsing water of the active substances used by means of tools such as hard brush without matting, and first back, then piled part of the carpet should be dried, and you should not walk on the part of the carpet being left to drying.

8. You should not use chemical substances such as gasoline, ammonia and detergent during cleaning. In case they become wet, they should not be squeezed, and should be dried bilaterally.

9. In case they are to be washed, you should consult a specialized institution.
