This guide will help you if your just starting out on ebay and want to list baby crib bedding sets, or individual pieces.
I have learned through trial and error from buying and selling, what is important to place in your listings that will provide the highest bids and sales plus receiving the best feedback.
1. On your listing title - Use all the characters offered if they will fit - To many sellers only use a small portion and leave out important information that could increase their sales.
What to include- Brand Name, Color, Design, How many peices to the set, boy, girl, neutral, new or used. Example: NEW Lambs & Ivy Pink Butterfly 6pc Baby Crib Bedding Set- Another Example: Pottery Barn Boys Blue Checked Crib Bumper Pad EUC (Excellent Used Condition). Use the keywords that buyers would use. I try not to use words like "cute" "adorable" only if there's room. Bad Example: girls 3 piece crib bedding (you will get visits from buyers but if you added the brand, color, design and pcs) this will bring more visits and bids.
2. When you pick a catagory - Look up ebay's popular keyword search, you'd be surprised what catagories people search the most. Using other Nursery Bedding is flooded with listings and yours may not get noticed, I use the crib sheets catagories because it also list the brand names of nursery bedding.
3. NOW THE IMPORTANT PART- Carefully look over all the bedding, and Always include ANY flaws that are on the pieces of the bedding. (fading, bumper ties missing, piling, stains, tears, is it still in firm condition, or has too many washings lost it firmness, are the colors still bright and clear) I have received bedding that had noticable stains that the seller didn't mention in their listing, and stated it was in great condition. You will get a complaint. Even though they didn't email you with questions ahead of time, it's your responsibility to state any flaws. List the design, color, brand name, theme, and each piece. Measurements are helpful for the comforter size, and dust ruffle drop.
Conditions of items can be perceived from the sellers view as excellent condition, however a buyer may have a different view of the same item, so remember if you were buying a bedding set what would you expect..
4. Pictures- Take your pictures in a setting that displays all the pieces you are listing. Hanging over a chair or on your couch makes it hard for a buyer to see what thier getting. Sometimes it looks tacky. Take close ups of each piece if you can, and also a picture of any flaws, it shows the buyer your honesty. Edit your pictures so there is not any or as little as possible, background that distracts from what your selling. Use a free auction listing site like auctiva.com you can list as many pictures as you want without the extra cost...and it's connected with ebay for uploading your listings..This will save you alot in fees..
5. Packaging - If it's simple bedding without anything breakable than I ship in a lightweight box with tissue paper placed on the bottom and the top. You can also place the bedding in a plastic garbage bag. Include an invoice. If your including a lamp, mobile or anything that could break, you can place them between the bumper and quilt for protection, however using bubble wrap would be better. This may seem like simple knowledge, but you'd be surprised how many sellers just throw everything in a box and don't use any protection...
6. Shipping: Offer Priority shipping - and Parcel Post - If the buyer is needing the bedding soon Priority is best - If they are not in a hurry, or want cheaper mailing cost than use parcel post. I always use paypal to print my shipping labels so if the buyer emails about thier item I can track it and send them the information. If you state priority mailing and then find out that it's cheaper to mail parcel post, you can't change shipping methods even if it means your going to lose money. I have had people state one shipping method and then change it on me because they were going to lose out. Also you cannot ask the buyer for more money to ship the item because you miscalculated the shipping cost.
7. Feedback- I always leave feedback after the buyer has left feedback for me. You don't know if there will be a problem in the transaction, and if you've already left feedback because you wanted to raise your numbers, and the buyer writes with a complaint you may get a negative feedback.
8. Pricing- Research the brand you have or the theme first. You will find out rather quickly whethcr your item will sell well or not. If it's a popular brand or theme, than start low, this will generate higher bids. If you want to get what you paid, or feel would be a reasonable price start there. Plus this keeps your fees down.
For Individual bedding pieces follow the same rule above....
