Are you serious about selling on ebay?  I have been buying and selling on ebay for about a year now. I know there are others who have been at this longer than me. I mainly buy purses so this guide is directed more towards them but coul dbe used for just about any item.  If you don't want me to bid on your auctions here is a list of things that will definitely keep me from bidding.

  • No picture in the photo gallery or on your auctions.  You don't have the time or want to waste the money putting pictures on your listings.  I should just take your word for what it looks like.    Or you only put one picture- who cares about what the small details look like.
  • Don't bother putting measurements or colors in the description.  You said it was a purse right.  Why should you care about the measurements?  All purses are the same size anyway.
  • Description of the item- why would anyone need that?  So what if it has an adjustable strap.  I can figure that out for myself once I receive it.
  • The condition?   You say it is new- so it's new.  There is a tear in the lining?  Oh well.
  • Invoice- you want an invoice.  Why? You know I bought it- so I should  just pay for it and get it over.
  • Shipping charges.  You don't have time to figure out the shipping charges.  I should just pay what ever you think is right.  Yeah $25.00 to ship an item 3 states is a good price.  Besides you will put it in an envelope for me.  I shouldn't worry that it will only be crushed a little bit.
  • Combine shipping?  Why would you do that?  Just because I am buying 3 items from you that weigh less than 2 pounds is no reason to offer me any kind of a deal.
  • Feedback- You don't have time to leave no stinking feedback- you have other photoless, descriptionless, high shipping items to get listed.

I tried to include some humor in this guide to keep your attention all the way to the end.  But seriously as a seller you should put yourself in the buyers frame of mind when you list an item.  What would you want to know about an item before you bid?  If you list that way- you will have a better chance to sell your items.  And you won't be a failure as a seller.
