Announcements:
Announcements are used to simply play a system recording to the caller. The caller will hear the announcement then continue to the set destination. The caller cannot dial any options use an IVR menu for that purpose.
- Login to FreePBX
- Click the Setup tab at the top of the page.
- On the left side of the page click the Announcements link under Inbound Call Control.
- Click the Add Announcement button on the right side of the page.
- Configure the Announcement using the following guidelines below.
Add Announcement
- Description - Enter a descriptive name for this announcement
- Recording - Choose a System recording to use for this announcement. System Recordings should be configured before setting up the announcement.
- Repeat - Choose a key that will repeat the announcement.
- Allow Skip - Select this box to allow the caller to skip this greeting by pressing any key.
- Return to IVR - Select this box to have the call sent back to the IVR, if it came from one.
- Don't Answer Channel - Select this box to keep the channel from being answered before playing the announcement. This is for advanced use only.
Destination
- Destination after playback - Choose the destination for after the announcement. You may direct the call to any internal extension, IVR, ring group, queue, time condition, or any number of different options. If you have not yet configured the intended destination, select a temporary destination and click submit, then configure the intended destination, come back here and select the new destination.
Click the Submit button when done.
To apply the changes click the red "Apply Changes" Bar in the upper right corner of the page. You may add more announcements before clicking "Apply Changes", just be sure to click the "Apply Changes" bar before exiting.
