I Have bought many items of clothing on eBay and learned quite a lot, Good and bad!
Here are some important tips I hope will help you.
.) First, most important......always check the measurements the seller lists. Not all sizes and manufacturers run the same in size. If a seller does not have the measurements listed, use the "ask seller a question" option. Many sellers do not accept returns, so if you do not ask for the measurements, you may end up with an item you can never wear!
.) Look closely at the photos the seller provides. All cameras are a bit differing on the true coloring of the item. This can also be affected by how much lighting is used when taking the photos. Again, if you are looking for (example....deep red), the photo may not show it is exactly the color you want. Feel free to ask the seller exactly what shade of color or if the photo seems to have been taking under little light, you may not see the exact coloring. You can also ask the seller to provide you with additional photos that are under better lighting.
.) ALWAYS...........Check the seller's feedback comments. If you see comments such as "item never received", "item not as described", "seller is difficult to deal with"....or any other such comments, BEWARE! If a seller has a few hundred sales and up, one bad comment is not a problem. It could simply be from a difficult buyer! Just checking the feedback rating..........is not enough. You really need to see how many negatives and neutrals the seller has and what comments were left by the buyers.
.) Some sellers put in their listing that item's come from a "pet-free and smoke-free home". Many sellers do not put this in their listings. If you have ALLERGIES to cats, dogs or smoke........be SURE to ask the seller before you bid. This is especially important when buying USED clothing.
.) If you are on a budget or do not wish to pay DRY CLEANING bills, ask the seller what the clothing tag says about washing. If you don't, you may end up with a continously costly item.
.) Take a VERY good look at the photos of an item. If it appears wrinkled, sloppy, etc., be aware this seller does not appear to take care of it's clothing items!
.) Most "Designer" clothing items tend to run smaller. AGAIN, be sure to ask for the measurements if they are not provided in the lsiting.
.) If you are thinking on bidding on a used item, and the seller does not list any flaws (if there are any), feel free to ask if you want a pristine item with no holes, snags, stains, tears, etc. Often, sellers who have many items of clothing listed may not have or take the time to completely check an item for any flaws. Ask the seller to double check and completely go over the item you want and let you know if anything may be wrong with it.
.) Be WARY of "lots" of items, this is when a seller lists a bunch of items in one listing. Mostly, they are used and have been worn and may be stretched out, faded or may have some damage. Personally, I will not take a chance at something like this, but if you wish to......please give very careful thought before bidding. In my opinion, I do not care how inexpensive they may be, and you think..."WOW, what a great deal!".....you may end up with a bunch of junk you would never wear.
.) Sellers are not always honest!!! Again, check their feedback comments from other buyers to see if they are satisfied with a certain seller. I learned the hard way. I bought 2 items from a seller that were listed as "excellent condition" and they turned out to be junk!
.) Remember, if you are looking for a certain brand/style, WAIT until you find one you feel comfortable buying. Sooner or later, you always see another for sale. Don't buy the first one (if you are unsure of its quality), simply because you want it.
.) I hope I have helped you to avoid some of the mistakes that can be made when buying clothing on eBay. Above all..........NEVER be afraid to ask the seller any questions you may have! I have learned this is the best approach. ALSO, be sure you feel comfortable bidding on an item. As I said, most sellers do not take returns. This means you may be stuck with junk!!!
GOOD LUCK ON BUYING CLOTHING AND I HOPE THESE TIPS HAVE HELPED YOU!
