Did you know that you could be your own worst enemy? An enemy is an adversary or opponent. You could be sabatoging your own success. You can overcome attitudes and habits that are standing in the way of your happiness. Here are some ways that you could be your own worst enemy.
Negative Thinking
A merry heart doeth good like a medicine. Proverbs 17:22
Negative thinking and doubt will bring you down faster than anything. It all starts with your thoughts. People can't see your thoughts, but they can see the results of your thoughts. Thoughts precede action. Negative thoughts will produce a negative attitude. You will find yourself complaining and fault-finding. You will be your own worst enemy if you practice negative thinking.
Anger
He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city. Proverbs 16:32
Some people seem to be angry all the time. The least little thing will set them off. They yell, scream, cuss, rant and rave. This is not a good way to make friends and influence people. You have to learn to control your temper. Take a deep breath and count to ten. Pray for your enemies and bless them. Grow up and take responsibility for your actions. You will be your own worst enemy if you don't control your temper.
Jealousy
Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. Hebrews 13:5
The "Green Monster" will eat you up alive. You should not be jealous of what another person has unless you are willing to do what they did to get it. Wishing is not enough, you have to take action if you want to make your dreams come true. There is an old saying, "Be careful for what you pray for because you might get it". Strive to be content with what you have and constantly work to be the best that you can be. You will be your own worst enemy if you are jealous and envious.
Fear
Fear not; stand still and see the salvation of the Lord. Exodus 14:13
It has been said that fear is "false evidense appearing real". Fear will keep you from achieving your destiny. Fear stops you and will even drive you backward. The answer to fear is to face it with courage. Courage is not the absence of fear - it is going forward in the face of it. You will be your own worst enemy if you live in fear.
Worry
So do not worry or be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will have worries and anxieties of its own. Sufficient for each day is its own trouble." Matthew 6: 34
Worry can drain your energy, make you grouchy and even make you sick. You worry because you think you can solve your own problems if you dwell on them long enough. Worry never solves the problem, it only adds to it. Worry is completely useless and a waste of valuable time. Let Go And Let God! You will be your own worst enemy if you worry, fret and dread.
Now is a good time to make some changes in your life. You can live in peace and joy if you stop being your own worst enemy and trust God to help you be your own best friend.
