How To Avoid Business Scams on eBay

Let me take a minute to explain a few of the common scams sold right here on eBay...

The "Established Online Business Scam"

This one is easy to spot if you know what to look for. They start out telling you how much money they are making per month with the business they are about to sell you, normally they claim they are making thousands of dollars each month. I see them all the time claiming to be making $5,000 or more each month. Then they tell you the business can be run in your spare time, just a few hours a week. Towards the bottom of the page they say they are selling it because they just don't have the time any more "my loss is your gain" - but wait a minute, didn't they just say it could be done in just a few hours each week?

This tells me they are either stupid or scamming you. Lets face it, if you had a business making $5,000+ per month and it only took you a few hours each week, would you sell it? Lets say they really didn't have the time to spare, why wouldn't they just hire someone to do it for them working part time? Heck, even if they paid their employee $1,000 a month, that's still $4,000 profit! How hard do you think it would be to find someone to work part time for $250 a week? You'd have people lined up at your door. So as you can see, the seller is either stupid, or they are lying to you.

Of course some say they are selling the business because they are working on new projects and need the money. Need the money? I thought they were making a great income already from the site they are selling, wouldn't it be smarter to just use the profits from that to fund the new project? Just look at the "Established Online Businesses" that have sold, compare the sale price to what they claimed they make each month, most of the time the auction ends at less than what they claim are one months profits. Yet they do it over and over again! Are they really that stupid? Or are they hoping someone else buying is?

The "eBook Business Scam"

I'm sure you've seen these, they are either selling you a web site setup to sell eBooks, or they are selling you a ton of eBooks for you to resell. If they are selling the web sites you'll notice that they sell them over and over again giving you hundreds of competitors on eBooks that barely even sell on eBay. Just look at some of the eBook titles they offer and search completed auctions on eBay, you'll see that if the eBook sells, most likely its for 99c and you'll see tons of auctions that didn't sell even for 99c. Yet they tell you that if you buy their auction it will be your path to riches.

Even if you sold 100 of these eBooks on eBay for 99c, by the time you take out the paypal fees and eBay fees, what are you left with? The answer is a lot of work with very little to show for it.

The "Profitable Web Site Scam"

Many eBay sellers sell the same web site over and over again, claiming they are profitable businesses. If you look at their feedback and see the auctions they have sold in the past you will see that they are selling the exact same web site to a lot of people, they only change the web site name. These are called "Cookie Cutter Web Sites" Many times they sell the exact same site to hundreds of people. This is the worst thing possible because the search engines will see all of these sites as duplicate content and they will never send you any visitors. That alone will drive your web site into the ground and make it a total waste of money. Without the search engines sending you any business, you are doomed to failure unless you take the time to completely rebuild the site with fresh content. You'd be much better off building a site from scratch since you'd have to rebuild theirs anyhow.

These are just three of the most common scams on eBay, there are many more and as I have the time I'll write more guides to show you the truth behind these scams. If you really want to start a home based business, take a look at my "about me" page and I'll gladly help you avoid these scams and build a real business you can be proud of.

Thanks for your time in reading this,

MoneyMatterz
